My DNA Revisited

December 21, 2007

I’ve got additional information concerning my own personal blue print. It seems my grandfather (Jose Morales) on my mom’s side was Haplogroup E3b, which associated with the Berbers (Moors) of North Africa. Even though I can’t really be tested for it, since I get my Y chromosome from my dad’s side of the family, my uncle got tested through the National Geographic Genographic Project. Speaking of my  dad’s side of the family,  my great grandmother (who was from the canary islands) was U6B another Berber haplogroup.

Ultimately, I am 30-40% Berber/Guanche on both sides of the family, which explains why I don’t look particularly Scandinavian as both my Y and Mitochondrial DNA suggests.
