About

In the last few years I’ve been doing a lot of research into my family genealogy and scanning any old picture I could get my hands on. At the same time, my wife and I had a baby. So I decided to create this blog to showcase my family… past, present and future.

    Dear Alex,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart!! I’m literally in tears. I have unsuccessfully been researching my family history to no avail. I guess it pays to be a media specialist not a teacher 🙂 I have spent the best couple of hours in my life looking through your blog which I found by accident as I was enthralled in my research. Cheo’s story was unreal! I do have an interesting tidbit for you. I often get asked in Tennessee from what part of Germany do I come from.. so maybe there is a Scandanavain/Baltic connection.

Thanks, Ada, yeah our Hernandez line has a Scandanavain/Baltic Y-DNA, so if Abel got his Y-DNA tested (although he doesn’t have to now) he’d have the same thing Cheo and I have. Now we’re not totally European, being of Canary Islander descent, we’re about a quarter (plus or minus) Guanche, the natives of the islands and genetically they are very similar to the Berbers of Morocco.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. There are long periods of looking without finding anything interesting and you made the search worth it. Along with another cousin of ours, I’m trying to dig deeper into more of the Canary Islander stuff with an on-site researcher. As soon as I find anything more I’ll let you know.
